How to share files with other people

This post is a quick tip about the most important thing that our service allows you to do - file sharing. There are several simple ways to share your files with others.

Linking

You can get a public link to the file or folder and then use it at your own discretion. E.g. you can send the link via your instant messenger, post it in your blog, forum or on your web-site.

To get a public link, choose the file or folder that you want to share and click the control button. In the drop-down menu choose “Get web link”. In a new pop-up window you’ll see all the links you need.

Sending

Sending is another great option. With File Qube you can email links rather than send large files as attachments (forget about bulky attachments and email bounces).

To email a link, choose a file/folder and click the control button. In the drop down menu choose “Email a link”. In the new pop-up window you can enter the destination e-mail address. You can send the e-mail to multiple recipients at once separating them with commas. Enter e-mail accounts and click “OK” button to send links.

Smart Toolbar

Sharing current folder

Use the top toolbar to share the current folder. You just need to click “Share current folder” button and in the drop-down menu choose the menu item you need.

Sending group of items

If you want to send several file and folders you can choose a group of objects and click the icon “Email selected items” on the top toolbar.

Great service but is downloading a file using the pull down menu classed as a hotlink? Also, is the hotlinks bandwidth per month or what? Thanks, Rob

Rob, you can disable direct downloads for personal files. Open “Settings” > “Web Folder Preferences” and uncheck “Download my files directly”.

I think he means, is the bandwidth reset by month or by day? Of course that is an interest to me as well, i always thought 2.5 GB per day is fine enough but then again i guess it takes up alot of bandwidth.

@Izzy: Bandwidth is reset on a monthly basis per the allocated bandwidth that’s setup within your account.

I found that an uploaded .mov file won’t be downloaded correctly when “use direct download link” is checked. The .mov file will be opened in a new browser’s tab which looks like being opened as a text file.
