Okay, folks. We apologize for the lack of posts, but there’s good reason for it. We’ve had many exciting changes happening at FQ Headquarters.
We’ve finally completed development on FQ v2.0. Since we don’t believe in premature launches no matter how excited we are, we’ll be spending the next few weeks working out the kinks and squashing the bugs in a closed beta environment.
As you all know, closed beta doesn’t mean closed minds, so we’d like to invite a few good men (or women!) to take a sneak beta peek at everything version 2.0 has to offer.
We’re looking for help to test out v2.0 for public release. In exchange for your beta testing collaboration, we’ll be giving each tester a free trip to their favorite destination a free 3-month subscription to our new 5Gb PRO account.
How do you sign up? Simple. Fill in the v2.0 beta sign-up form (if you think you have what it takes to be a great tester). Your input is valuable to us and your feedback is welcome. After all, we built File Qube for users like you - not just for fun.
Stay tuned for more information on our v2.0 launch!
Sometimes, too much of a good thing isn’t really a good thing at all.
FileQube is a free service for all users, and we can offer that no-charge opportunity because of the kind support of sponsors and advertisers.

Want to improve our service? So do we.
In the next couple of months, we’ll be upgrading and releasing a new version. You’ll be able to upload widgets, do remote uploads, enjoy avatar support and more.
Here’s a full list of upcoming improvements for you to check out.
- Account upgrades - Get more features and less limitations. Customize amount of disk space and bandwidth available within your storage.
- Virus scan - This extremely useful feature helps protect our members from downloading files that may be unsafe
- Avatar support - Personalize your shared pages with avatars
- Remote upload manager - Grab files from any remote host and upload directly to your web folder. You can choose the folder, where these files should be downloaded, check out the progress meter, receive global notifications, and more.
- Files collector - This nice feature allows you to copy any file hosted by File Qube to your personal web folder. Coolness. You won’t have to worry about file availability any more.
- Better tags management - We’ll change tags management to make it more useful by adding group tags operations and better management features.
- Upload widgets - Get upload functionality to any website or blog. Members can use uploaded widgets in private or public sharing mode.
- API functions - This is good news for all developers who might want to communicate with our storage using simple API functions.
Have a feature suggestion that isn’t on this list that you’d like to see? Contact us. We’re open to your ideas and suggestions.
After three months of deliberation and careful thought, we’ve decided to disable hot linking for all free basic accounts.
It was hard decision for us to make, but hot linking on free accounts puts our business at a disadvantage.
Sorry for the bad news, everyone, and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
You might be interested to know that our file manager uses windows-like double-click interface. (Now that’s a quick tip you can put into practice!)
Use a single click to select an item and double click to fire the default item action. For example, a folder will be opened and file downloaded if you double click on it. To select multiple items simply hold “Ctrl” key and click items you want to select.
If you don’t like double clicking, that’s okay. Just use the link below the thumbnail. It behaves like regular link.
Ah, and one small hint - this only works in thumbnails view mode.
It’s happened! We’re here! Yes, we finally got a blog! (Talk about moving in to the 21st century.)
Check us out from time to time. We’ll post news, updates, tips and help topics right here, and please feel free to join in the discussions in comment sections.
Our team is ready to hear from you, too, so feel free to discuss every aspect of the FQ service. We’ll listen and learn your suggestions.
Thanks ;)
